Approval of minutes: It was moved and seconded to approve the
May 14, 1998 minutes.
Communications/General Discussion:
The meeting began with self-introductions.
Ron Darville, City of El Segundo could not attend
today but he has informed the President that the Seminar on the 1997 UBC Update held on
May 20, 1998 was a success and brought $3,000.00 to the Chapter coffers.
Secretary John Cheng reported that the California Building Official
Contractor Advisory Committee has met with the Contractors State Board Registrar regarding
retrofit requirements for swimming pools, the topic of last month’s meeting. The
registrar ruled that contractors with a Class A, C10 and C53 licenses can retrofit public
swimming pools.
Vice President John Kelly reported that International
Residential Code (IRC) is scheduled for public hearing July 20 - 24, 1998 in Kansas City.
The member wish to thank Willdan for the fee survey. They did an
excellent job.

Committee Reports: None
Program: Guest speaker, Bruce McKarley, California Housing
and Community Development Department, Division of Codes and Standards, discussed
residential amendments and manufactured housing laws.
Adjournment: The June Business Meeting was adjourned by
President Peter Hess at approximately 2:06 p.m.
