Pitfalls to Avoid when Implementing A
Green Buildings Program

by Craig Perkins.

Craig Perkins served 25 years with the City of Santa Monica, 15 as the Director of Environmental & Public Works Management in charge of the Santa Monica Sustainable City Plan, alternative fuels, energy efficiency and green building programs, design and construction of City capital projects and integrated management of water and solid waste resources. He was recently appointed as the Executive Director of The Energy Coalition, a non-profit organization that facilitates and implements energy efficiency, energy education, renewable energy and greenhouse gas reduction projects in California and Sweden by forging partnerships between leadership cities, their serving utilities, regulators and other key stakeholders. The Energy Coalition is striving to create an innovative model for energy and greenhouse gas actions that can be implemented by cities throughout California and beyond.
